FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

If you're considering SYMYO, these are the most common questions people ask before getting started.

What happens during the first visit?+

Your first step is the Movement Age Intensive, which includes two visits.

Visit 1: Assessment + Initial Treatment

We begin with a detailed history to understand:

  • when your symptoms started
  • what makes them better or worse
  • what you've already tried
  • what your goals are

Next we perform your full Movement Age assessment.

We measure mobility, strength, balance, and movement quality to identify where stress is building up and where your body may be compensating.

If appropriate, we also begin treatment during this visit to reduce irritation and start the process immediately.

Visit 2: Review of Findings

At the follow-up visit we walk you through everything we discovered.

You'll see:

  • where movement is limited
  • why stress is accumulating
  • how it connects to your symptoms
  • what the structured plan looks like

You leave with clarity.
Not guesses.
Not vague advice.
A clear plan.

There is no pressure to commit beyond this point.

The goal of these visits is understanding.

What makes SYMYO different?+

Most clinics focus on reducing pain.

At SYMYO, we focus on improving why the pain started in the first place.

Pain usually appears when your body isn't prepared for the demands placed on it. That might be from:

  • sitting all day
  • lifting weights
  • running
  • playing sports
  • working long hours
  • repeating the same movements over time

If a joint doesn't move well or the surrounding muscles aren't strong enough, something eventually becomes irritated.

Instead of only calming symptoms, we improve how your body moves and build strength so it can handle those demands without breaking down again.

That is the difference.

What conditions do you treat?+

SYMYO works with active adults dealing with pain, recurring injuries, or bodies that simply don't move the way they used to.

Common issues we help with include:

  • lower back pain
  • neck pain and stiffness
  • shoulder pain or limited overhead mobility
  • hip tightness or hip pain
  • knee pain during training or daily activity
  • recurring muscle strains
  • mobility limitations affecting lifting, running, or sports

We also work with people who are not currently in pain but feel like their body is trending in the wrong direction.

Stiffness increases.
Recovery takes longer.
Movements feel less reliable.

A Movement Age assessment helps identify where those changes are happening so they can be addressed early.

The goal is not just pain relief.
The goal is helping your body move and perform better over time.

Why does SYMYO use an application?+

SYMYO is not a high-volume clinic.

Each treatment plan is built around how your body actually moves and progresses through a structured process of Reduce, Restore, and Reinforce.

Because of that, we work with a limited number of people at a time to maintain one-on-one care and measurable progress.

The application helps make sure the people who start care are a good fit for this model.

Some people are simply looking for a quick adjustment when something hurts.

There are many places that do that well.

SYMYO is designed for people who want to rebuild how their body moves, get stronger, and stay capable long-term.

The application helps us make sure we're aligned before starting that process.

What is Movement Age?+

Movement Age is our proprietary assessment that measures how well your body moves and performs compared to your actual age.

Using AI-based movement analysis and strength testing, we evaluate:

  • mobility
  • strength
  • balance
  • control
  • compensation patterns

You receive a clear score along with a breakdown of what needs improvement.

Instead of guessing, we measure.
And we re-test over time to make sure your body is actually improving.

Will I be working directly with Dr. Mitch Israel?+

Yes.

Every Movement Age assessment and treatment session is performed directly by Dr. Mitch Israel.

SYMYO is intentionally designed as a one-on-one model so your care remains consistent from start to finish.

This allows us to track progress closely, adjust your plan as your body improves, and ensure each phase of the process progresses the way it should.

You won't be passed between providers or handed off to assistants.

Your care stays focused, personal, and consistent.

Do I need to be in pain to come in?+

No.

Some people come in because they are dealing with ongoing pain.

Others come in because they feel stiff, weaker than they used to, or less capable than they should.

You don't have to wait for something to flare up before addressing it.

If your body feels limited, unreliable, or like it is trending in the wrong direction, that is reason enough to assess it.

What if I’ve already tried physical therapy or chiropractic?+

That is very common.

Most people who come to SYMYO have already tried one or both.

What often happens is this:

Pain improves.
Care stops.
Months later the problem returns.

Not because treatment didn't work.
Because it stopped too early.

Rehabilitation often ends when pain decreases.
Strength progression rarely continues long enough to truly change how the body functions.

At SYMYO, we don't stop at symptom relief.

We continue until your body is objectively stronger and moving better than before the injury started.

We measure.
We correct movement.
We build strength.
And we re-test to prove it.

Is this personal training?+

No.

Strength training is one phase of our process, but SYMYO is not a gym and it is not traditional personal training.

Personal training typically focuses on fitness goals.

At SYMYO we begin by identifying why your body is breaking down.

We assess mobility, joint mechanics, compensation patterns, and strength.

Then we correct what is limiting you before progressing into structured strength training.

The goal is not simply lifting heavier weights.
The goal is building a body that can tolerate the demands of your life without recurring problems.

Fitness is part of it.
Resilience is the focus.

How long does the process take?+

SYMYO follows a structured progression:

Reduce → Restore → Reinforce

How long that takes depends on:

  • where your body is starting
  • how much rebuilding is required
  • what your goals are

Some people only need a short phase of care.

Others benefit from progressing through all three phases.

After your Movement Age Intensive, you'll know exactly where you're starting and what a realistic plan looks like.

How much does treatment cost?+

Every person begins with a Movement Age Intensive, which includes a comprehensive movement assessment, your Movement Age score, an initial treatment session, and a full review of findings.

After that evaluation we outline the most appropriate plan based on how your body is functioning and what your goals are.

Some people only need a short phase of care.

Others benefit from a longer progression through the Reduce, Restore, and Reinforce phases.

Because every plan is individualized, the investment depends on the scope of work required.

We review all options transparently during your Report of Findings so you can decide what makes the most sense for you.

Do you accept insurance?+

SYMYO is a private clinic and does not bill insurance.

This allows care to be structured around what your body needs, not what an insurance policy authorizes or limits.

We do accept HSA and FSA cards, and flexible payment options can be discussed if needed.

The goal is transparency from the beginning so there are no surprises.

What kind of commitment does this require?+

Most people attend 1 to 2 sessions per week, depending on their phase of care.

Each session lasts about 30 minutes and includes hands-on treatment when needed along with targeted rehabilitation work.

This is not a passive model where you lie on a table and leave.

Progress requires participation.

You'll have specific work to perform between visits and a structured progression to follow.

If you're willing to follow a clear plan, this model works very well.

What if you determine I’m not a good fit for SYMYO?+

Not everyone is the right fit for this model of care.

SYMYO is designed for people who want to rebuild how their body moves and are willing to participate in that process.

If your situation would be better served somewhere else, we'll tell you directly and help point you in the right direction.

The goal is not to convince everyone to start care.
It's to make sure the people who do begin are in the right place.

What if it doesn’t work?+

That's exactly why we offer the SYMYO 14-Day Feel Better Guarantee.

If you begin care and do not experience meaningful improvement within the first 14 days, we'll review what we've found together and determine the best next step.

The goal is simple.
You should feel confident that your body is moving in the right direction early in the process.
